Actor
Ashleigh Rains is an actress and award-winning producer with dual Canadian and British citizenship. Currently she has a recurring role in The Handmaid’s Tale and has appeared in television series and films including My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, Designated Survivor, Flashpoint, Warehouse 13, Bitten and numerous independent productions. She is a classically trained dancer having studied at Canada’s National Ballet School and performed with The National Ballet of Canada. Ashleigh has a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Drama from Queen’s University and studied Contemporary Drama at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England.
Filmmaker
As a filmmaker, Ashleigh is the recipient of two BravoFACT awards, a MuchFACT award, a Cogeco Award and OMDC Export Funding. Her short films have screened at festivals internationally including with Telefilm Not Short on Talent at the Cannes Film Festival, Clermont-Ferrand, SXSW, and at the Edmonton International Film Festival, Canadian Film Fest, Lady Filmmaker Festival, Female Eye Film Festival, and Newport Beach Film Festival. In 2017, she produced Geordie Sabbagh’s short film, Tomorrow’s Shadows, starring David Cronenberg and Karine Vanasse, which won Best of Showcase at WIFT and the Platinum Remi Award for Original Drama from Worldfest Houston.
